Small Crocheted Washcloth 

Smal Washcloth

This is a FREE Pattern for you to Enjoy!

MATERIALS

  • 1 skein Lily Sugar and Cream cotton yarn
  • (contrasting color of Lily Sugar & Cream cotton yarn for optional ruffle)
  • H / 5.00 mm Crochet Hook
  • Plastic yarn needle

STITCHES

  • Ch – chain
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Tr – treble crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch

GAUGE: 7 sc = 2 inches

INSTRUCTIONS

Row 1: Ch 22 (To make a larger washcloth, make a longer chain with an even number of stitches)

Row 2: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each sc across. 21 sc total. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in very first sc, *tr in next sc, sc in next sc* across. 21 stitches total. Ch 1, turn

Row 3 AFTER you ch 1 and turn.

Row 4: Sc in each tr and sc across. 21 sc total. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5 through 20: Repeat Rows 3 and 4, 8 times. (If a longer chain was made in Row 1, continue repeating Rows 3 & 4 until desired length is reached.)

EDGING

Row 21: Ch 1 turn, BACK side of washcloth will be facing you. Work around the outside edge of the washcloth.

2sc in first sc (corner), sc in each sc across,

3 sc in last sc of row (corner), 1 sc in each stitch along side of washcloth,

3 sc in the corner loop of ch stitch, sc in remaining loop of each ch stitch across,

3 sc in corner ch stitch, sc in each stitch along side of washcloth,

1 sc in same sc as beginning corner.  Join with sl st to first sc made in this row. Fasten off. Use plastic yarn needle to weave in loose ends.  Trim and enjoy your washcloth! Scroll down for optional ruffled edging…..

OPTIONAL RUFFLE EDGING

(If using a new color for the ruffle, attach new color at end of row 20)

Row 21: Ch 1, 2 sc in same corner sc, sc in each stitch along side of washcloth across. Work in loose ends as you crochet.

Washcloth Row 21, Beginning the ruffle.

3 sc in corner ch stitch, sc in each ch stitch across.

3 sc in corner ch, sc in each chain across side of washcloth,

3 sc in corner ch, sc in each sc across,

1 sc in beginning corner, join to first sc with sl st.

*ch 5, sc in next sc* around entire outer edge of washcloth. Join with sl st in beginning sc. Weave in loose ends using plastic yarn needle. Trim. Enjoy your washcloth!
